Camping Le Lac des Neiges

While camping there with my two sons on August 30, 2019, we had a strange and very unpleasant experience. On the way back from Nice to Turin, we arrived there at dusk (around 8:30 pm), having searched unsuccessfully for a place to spend the night. The door was open, but we did not find anyone at the reception or around the entrance. People were dining in their caravans. We searched for a decent camping site and pitched our small tents together on one site. We inflated our mattresses and put sleeping bags and other objects inside. We then decided to return to the village of Isola (only 1 km), where we had seen a bar / pizzeria still open. A big tasty pizza and a pint of beer were exactly what we needed after a long day of cycling. In a good mood and with a slight drizzle, we went back to the campsite. The door was still open, but of course there was no one at the front desk - we would have plenty of time to pay for it in the morning, as you often do when you arrive late. Upon arriving at our location, we saw two people (the owners, apparently) destroying our tents frantically - taking them out with stakes, the inner tent and all, and throwing them on a pile in the rain. When we inquired, we only had screams and insults. Even while we were there, puzzled and trying to figure out what was happening, the woman was yelling hysterically while demolishing the third tent. It took us half an hour to calm them down a bit. After settling the payment (where else could we go? ...), we recovered our stuff in the soggy pile, planted the tents again and went to sleep in a half-wet sleeping bag. The behavior of these people is a shame for tourism in the Tinée Valley.
